HubPages - And me

HubPages

I need to write. After almost 10 days back in the UK, I couldn't fill the back of a postage stamp with what I've written. Rushing around, meeting and greeting family and friends for the last 10 days or so have created a serious slump in my productivity.

And this is not just a holiday I'm on either. I'm partly working too.

HubPages has become my personal car-crash.  I miss writing. HubPages is the place I'm most active but there are other sites that I frequent (and like) that are suffering from a lack of word-work.

For those that have never frequented HubPages (or even heard of it) it's about as good as it gets regarding online publishing platforms. Like anything, you get out what you put in and the site certainly provides you with the tools for dipping your toes into online earning.

Once you work out how to use it.

It never ceases to amaze me how many people don't bother reading the instructions. Instructions are always worth reading (especially if they're on the back of a tube of hemorroid cream) and HubPages has instructions oozing out of it's templates.

It's got TOS, FAQ's, accidental instructors (the guys that are in the know and frequent the help forum), hubs about HubPages, overviews, help pages ... I could go on.

But I won't. The ones that this is aimed at won't read it anyway. They don't read anything. They're the type of hubber that simply joins and then start asking for help asap. The kind that screams "I can't be bothered reading through junk. I've got better things to do".

I need to write a recipe ...

Toast & Marmalade

You will need:

  • thick sliced bread
  • toast
  • butter
  • marmalade

Method:

  • toast bread
  • butter it
  • add marmalade
  • eat

Preferably eat it whilst having a hot coffee to hand. Even better if you're eating home made marmalade. But don't be a wuss and eat shredless. Marmalade without peel is simply funny tasting jam.

It's all about me ...

Though I don't profess to speak fluent portuguese, I can say that I'm fluent in portuguese small talk. And that was my undoing for my first few days here. I kept saying a bright 'good day' every time I walked in and out of a shop (in Portuguese) and on occasion went as far as starting a sentence in Portuguese ...

Quite ridiculous when one of the things I was looking forward to was hearing nothing but the English language for the next few weeks ...
